Verified Reviewer | Hunter Mill, VirginiaVery poor help, dirty room & flying black bugs which are called sewage bugs.
My 92-year young mother was hospitalized from an infection in her knee. After her surgery she was taken to the 4th floor.
I will have to say that the first evening when mom got to her room at 6:30 pm in the hospital she was taken well care of, BUT after that nurse change at 7:30 am the next morning things went completely downhill. She was to be a one-person aid and was to be walked back & forth to the bathroom, that happened 2 times and the nurse let her slip a little, and she was immediately put down as to be kept in bed. Her bed was broke, and she could not set up or lay down when she wanted too, she'd call the nurse, they'd ask what she needed, and she'd want to set up, but no one would come. When they would come they'd come in and get started on her and leave the room and say they'd be right back and wouldn't show up for another hour.
I asked for new bed, and they said they'd check on one, and they'd be right back, never came back. The next day one of the nurses said that about 20 people went home, so I said can my mother have another bed then. She said she'd check, and I'll be right back! Ha Ha, she never got a new bed.
My mother was feeling that because she was 92 that they didn't care so much because she was going to die soon. Discrimination!!! My sister & I took turns being with mom each day and if we weren't their I think my mother would have just died. Every time we went in she said she just wanted to die.
They sat her up on the side of the bed because Dr. Hung asked that she set up and eat on the side of her bed & set up straight so it would open up her chest so she wouldn't get pneumonia, they did and then forgot about her, left her unhooked from her wound vac & medications for over 2 hours, and she had slouched forward, buzzed for the nurse several times, no one came, she was able to find her cell phone & called me at home. I called the nurses station & a tech went in, put her back in the bed and left. Mom called me again after buzzing for the nurse again and no one came and said they hadn't hooked her up, left the belt around her and the buckle was rubbing her back and never put a sheet or blanket on her.
This is ridiculous, mom had to call me again and finally a nurse went in and of course said she should have never been left like this. She never got to go to the bathroom again, and they put a potty chair right beside her bed for her to have a BM in. In 7 days her room was swept 1 time, never cleaned the room or bathroom. I was seeing all these black bugs flying around in her bathroom.
I was killing them 5 at a time each time I'd use the bathroom, then I saw them in her window seal beside her large hard chair she was to set up in daily. Not only that, but I spent the night one night because of the care she was getting and didn't get any sleep, because those bugs were flying around. When I asked about the bugs they said it was probably coming from flowers that people have delivered to the room prior to mom coming there.
So I developed a large sty on my eye the day I got mom home, and it was terribly painful, and I had puss bag on top of puss bag on my left eye. Never, ever had this before, so I went to the Dr.
and she said it was a sty, and it can come from a bug & dirty environment. I pulled up what type of bugs causes sty's on the eye, and they call them sewage bugs and when I looked them up it's the exact bug that was flying around in her bedroom & bathroom. They were dying on the window seal right beside where I was trying to sleep in the chair.
It was totally disgust
Pictures below are the sewage fly's that was in my mother's hospital room and the bacteria that I incountered in that room. Luckily my mother is on an infection antibiotic through a pic line or she may have been sick from that room too.
- Poor staffing
- Broken hospital bed
- Dirty
User's recommendation: Try not to have to go to Reston Hospital Center
No help
Hi,
My rib is fractured and I got no help plus the customer service IS HORRIBLE. My son was born at this hospital so I thought I could trust them.
NEVER AGAIN!!! Change the staff!!!
User's recommendation: Go somewhere else
Was seen by these extortionists
Was whisked away by a local rescue to the hospital with all I had was a simple bump on my head and a concussion.
But these real freeloaders decided to just charge out of the rearend and take a bunch of CAT scans and do nothing but give me ice and anti-nausea medicine.
Believe it or not one night in the hospital cost more than three in Fair oaks hospital having surgery on my broken leg.
No thanks to them I might have to sue them and the other parties insurance company in court.
- Overpriced bedside manner
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Stay away from them
Pediatric Chest Pain - NOT TAKEN SERIOUSLY
Went to Reston ER last-night, 2-year-old complained of chest pain. Went to the Key-OS, and it SPECIFICALLY READ IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING CHEST SYMPTOMS, GO TO A HEALTH-CARE REPRESENTATIVE".
Did that, the front desk ignored me standing at the window for about 5 min. Then eventually acknowledged both me and my sons' presence. Told her the chief of complaint and still told me to sign him in. WAITED FOR 2 HRS, - ER wasn't even busy, and they didn't check him in.
Still waited in the waiting room.
I got up went to the front desk and asked what the *** the delay was, front desk lady said oh it's really busy, I said where, so a toddler with chest pain isn't a priority for you all, I left and went to INOVA. Will be making a complaint to patient advocacy and CEO.
- Worst customer service
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: They don't take pediatric patients seriously, go elsewhere !
Inappropriate care
Firstly, some of my nurses were fabulous, as was my physical therapist. The lady who delivered lunch offered to help me with things unrelated to her position.
However, some of my care was lacking.
packs placed on wrong body part. Breathing apparatuss works

Verified ReviewerDo not go to Reston ER
My husband went to Reston Hospital ER Friday night complaining about severe throat pain, couldnt talk, couldnt eat, had difficulty breathing.
First of all, there was no one there to take him in, after running around and asking a clerk for help, finally someone showed up and they took him in.
Now about the ER doctor, Dr. Justin Walters, he walks in without acknowledging me, starts talking to my husband, knowing full well that he can not speak, the doctor prefers to read my husbands notes about his condition and again totally disregarding me trying to talk on my husbands behalf.
He didnt want to talk to a women!!
After 4 hours of waiting, without giving my husband even IV to keep him hydrated, the doctor comes back, again, acting as though Im not in the room, saying there is nothing wrong and sends him home with no antibiotics or pain meds.
2 days later because my husbands condition had not improved, he went to an ENT doctor. The ENT doctor as soon as he looked at his throat, sent him to ER to be admitted to the hospital.
My husband had Epiglottitis, he couldnt have died from the inflammation of the throat.
Dr Justin Walters did not even look inside my husbands throat, he relied on the lab test results which is the culture from just the surface of the throat instead of looking deeper.
My advice is, NEVER go to Reston ER, they are all incompetent.
They make sure you return so they can charge you more.
I plan to file an official complaint about Dr. Walters, and the ERs patient intake.
- Close to my house
- Incompetent staff
- Worst customer service
You need to focus on customer experience
My sister is at Reston hospital receiving post-op care, and the list of disasters is unlimited. The worst is a nurse telling her that blood on the sheet is not from her, nothing to worry, it may be a pre-soiled sheet. OMG!
Bad place to work for
I worked there for 8 years 7 of those years were great and the past year I got let go by the V.P for something I said which I found out the persons lied. But never the less she took there word. long story short I think the CEO should have a rounding with her and fined out why their is a lot of people leaving
Bad Workers
Last year and this year was bad time for us to experienced to confined to your hospital, first my son was born at Reston, then my husband was sick we kept visiting your hospital... the problem of your hospital were staff from nurses to doctors were not good ...
it’s was trauma to go back to your place... because medicine were free they fed the patients as wish as they can..no more Reston hospital and not good to recommend to all my friends.......
Er experiences
Went on Sunday morning for sonagram because emergency patient care Said I needed this x-ray.Experince at hospital ok said nothing showed up.Received call from patient care saying I had a fracture. Not picked up by hospital.Today hospital rep called and was very very rude
Never resolved er visit. They still want their money for things they didn't provide
Hospital still sucks, they still want the money for no services provided on the day I went to the ER. These people will kill you don't ever use Reston Hospital ER.
They would rather party in the back room than attend to people in severe pain. I think they watch too many of the doctor shows on TV and think working in the ER is just one big party. Because that's what they were doing every time my sister went looking for help. Reston ER still sucks!!!!!!!!!!!
Doctors and nurses at this hospital have each others back and lie to their patients. It was around Christmas and they were all having a good time at the nurses station. I had just had a knee replacement and couldn't walk. When I asked to be discharged they unhooked me and showed me where to get to the exit.
No wheelchair, cane, walker nothing. I almost fell down. I wish I had and they I could have sued the *** out of the *** unprofessional hospital. Reston ER sucks.
Don't go their if you value your life or your families life. You will most likely be killed. When a doctor comes in to your room and says he doesn't know what to do and says he is looking for an admitting doctor then you know for sure he is clueless. I hope this gets in the heads of at least one person to save at least one life for not going to the REston ER.
They never call you back either. They always consider the case closed know matter what you tell them.
Preferred solution: Full refund
This is the worst ER in Viriginia
I waited for over 4 hours in severe pain in Dec. 2015.
Had the same stupid *** Doctor for the second time in Dec.2015 as I had to go back within 6 days for the same issue. All he could do was go back and forth and send some nurse to give me another blanket. Apparently they could not treat me until they found the student nurse who left the hospital with my list of medications and had violated my hipa rights. But they didn't care.
I was allergic to many medicines since my knee replacement in Nov 2015 that took place at Fair Oaks Hospital. By the way they were very nice there, but apparently Reston ER could not link up to what had been given to me at that hospital that's why I had given then my list. Air go, missing student nurse. I came in to the ER right after 1pm and just before 6pm they came in to give me a faxed copy of my medicines not the original and wanted to give me so medicine at that time.
I said hold your horses don't give me anything, I want to leave, you people are crazy and are going to kill me. So they released me and gave me no assistance to the door where my sister was meeting me with the car. Now reminder I just had a knee replacement, I couldn't walk, I was doubled over in pain. They did not walk me to the door, give me a wheelchair, a walker or cane.
I had to crawl out up against a wall. Apparently they were having a Christmas party in the back of the nurses station and this was where all the staff was hiding. Partying was more important than a patients care. Then they turn around and bill me $600 for doing nothing for me in the ER.
Patients beware, do not go to this ER if you value your life. They are threatening me with collections because I told them I would only pay $25 a month until it was paid off.
It's been two years now and that is not good enough for them they want the whole thing or pay at least $31 a month or they will put it in for collections. This place sucks and I live 4 minutes from this ER and would rather go to an ER further away or die before I go to that ER again.
Preferred solution: Full refund
RESTON HOSPITAL SUCKS
THEY SUCK THAT'S ALL THEIR IS TO IT. THEY LIE, CHEAT AND STEAL FROM PATIENTS AND THEY LAUGH ABOUT IT.
EVERYONE YOU TALK TO THERE JUST FLIPS YOU OVER TO SOMEONE ELSE WHO COULD GIVE A CRAP. PATIENTS BEWARE OF THIS ER. THEY WILL KILL YOU ON THE SPOT IF GIVEN THE CHANCE. TRIED CALLING THEIR EXECUTIVE OFFICES AND THEY WON'T RETURN YOUR CALLS, THEY SHOVE YOU OVER TO THE BILLING DEPARTMENT WHO WANTS THEIR MONEY UP FRONT NOW, I MEAN NOW OR THEY ARE SENDING YOU TO COLLECTIONS.
THIS HOSPITAL AND THEIR STAFF IN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ER STAFF ARE THE WORST IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA. I WOULDN'T SEND A WOUNDED ANIMAL TO THIS ER BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. THEY WERE HAVING A CHRISTMAS PARTY WHEN I WAS TAKEN TO THIS ER AND HAVING A FEW DRINKS AND PLENTY OF FOOD WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE CARE OF A PATIENT WHO WAS IN SEVERE PAIN AND DISCOMFORT. WHAT KIND OF HOSPITAL OPERATES LIKE THIS.
RESTON HOSPITAL DOES NOT CARE ABOUT FEEDBACK THEY GET OR THEY WOULD TRY TO HELP. INSTEAD THEY JUST GIVE YOU THE RUN AROUND, HOW DOES THIS INCOMPETENT HOSPITAL STAY IN BUSINESS WITHOUT LAWSUITS.
THEY ARE DEMANDING PAYMENT FOR A MEASLY $586 WRITE IT OFF RESTON HOSPITAL. YOU DIDN'T PROVIDE ANY CARE WHAT SO EVER SO WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY THIS MONEY??
- Hate this hospital with a passion

Verified Reviewer | Reston, VirginiaAwful inhumane care
I had a masectomy last week. I thought the care was fine until I was given a shot to prevent pneumonia and my throat starting burning& got very scratchy.
I thought I was having an allergic reaction& my husband called for help. The front desk staff was rude& said nurse is coming. 5 minutes later while my throats on fire I started to panic& called the front desk& said someone needs to come now to help me. I told you she's coming& slammed the phone down.
A nurse tells my husband they can't find Benadryl& another nurse brings in a box of gauze& what looked like specimen jars& is searching thru it& proclaims no Benadryl in here.another nurse said we can't administer anything until the doctor gets here& he's in another building. Finally my nurse comes in& tells me to calm down& sit& then the doctor strolls in. As she's checking my vitals my pulse& BP were very high so they said I was having a panic attack. The doctor was very gruff& asked me do I often have panic attacks.
I said well I do when I'm having symptoms like an allergic reaction. I didn't know because of all the meds& not eating for several hours I was having acid reflux. A few nurses whispered yup panic attack& rolled there eyes. The nurse treating me yelled at me to be strong.
Only one nurse seemed to show compassion as I cried. Having major surgery& a part of your body cut off is stressful& emotional enough but then to be treated like a neurotic crazy person because you are scared you are having a life threatening adverse reaction is awful. There was no hurry or care to see if I was okay& having a reaction& I was made to feel ashamed for being in such a panic. There is no excuse for the lack of urgency, care, disorder& compassion.
People who don't care about other people shouldn't go into the business of caring for others. This was an awful experience.
The nurses& the doctor who treated me this way should be ashamed to call themselves care givers. Hopefully they will never have to go thru the experience of having cancer& having to have a body part cut off& then be scared of an adverse reaction on top of it& being treated the way I was.
RESTON HOSPITAL IN VA IS SUCKS
Actually, I do not know how to find a way to complain about DR. Saad Amin's attitudes and less-than-professional behavior in "ER".
I came with my niece on Friday August 19th. at 9:30 PM because she was having severe pain in her left side kidney.
We waited 3 hours before we got a bed inside and he came to see us after that. I told him three hours is long time, his rude and unprofessional response was “so" then I told him that he could come out while we are in waiting room to check the patient which would not take 2 minutes of him, since she was in great pain because kidney stone..., his answered with angry face was "get out, I want to check the patient” the patient told him that I can stay in the room.

my mom was in Reston ER some time ago, she was having heart problems exacerbated by some infections, and not being able to go relieve herself made her blood pressure shoot up, I pleaded with the nursing staff in vain for an hour (they told mom to "just go on the bed" until they have a moment to put in a tube - well, none of us adults are used to just going!), an African Am woman nurse finally helped mom go to the bathroom when her supervisor was not around, uttered something under her breath about "common sense"! I recall another kind soul there, a night-shift woman doc who checked in on mom, took time to comfort us, and gave a blanket for me.
The others were dismissive, the doctors, nurses. The paramedic getting us there was a *** lurking around and staring at my mom's bare chest. After mom was discharged in less than 24hrs, I received a bill for $35,000.
They sent me a long list of tests they did - which I happened to know were inflated about 10-20 times each. My first reality check/shock about the so-called healthcare system.
